It's Ours!

You guys! We finally own a house again. And not just any house, this beautiful mid-century mod.

And in about two weeks we can finally move in! I'm so excited to get some Fall decorations up and feeling like home.
We're going to do a little landscaping starting with removing the tree that you see. I feel like it blocks one of the best features of the house, the large stone fireplace.
Another thing I absolutely love is the exposed beams that run from the edge of the house into the house and are exposed all the way through to the other end. It gives the perfect character to the house.
Since we still aren't moving in for a couple more weeks, here is what we have been up to lately.

We have been climbing on things we shouldn't....

We have been hiking...

We have been window shopping...

And a little more hiking.

It has been a fun and busy couple of months and we're excited for the months coming!

The First of Fall

Of course I have to document the changing of the season and a few goals that I have set for myself for the upcoming months.

1. Read a novel

I have been in the mood to read a good book lately. It probably won't be a long one because I should probably have a textbook in my hands instead of a novel, but Harry Potter or a good Historical Fiction sounds perfect.

2. Go on a few local hikes with the girls

I love seeing the leaves change and the crispness in the air. Plus I don't sweat so much when it's not onehundredandeighty degrees outside.

3. Close on our house!

We're getting there guys, I promise. The sole purpose of this blog is home renovations and I've already fallen short. The process is just taking much longer than anticipated. We're hoping to close around October 15th. Just in time to binge watch Hocus Pocus and make homemade bread while surrounded with boxes.

4. Keep up on my homework

I am so close to being done with school, just a semester and a half left. I want to finish strong and enjoy the last little bit of my undergrad experience. It feels like it's taken so long to get here, but now that it's ending I am a little bit sad about it. Which probably means working toward my Master's Degree won't be too far off in the future.

5. Date my husband

Our crazy life tends to get in the way of me being able to properly date my husband. The last date we went on was to get frozen custard from a fast food restaurant after the girls had gone to bed for the night. So I should probably work on that more.

Fall and lists are two of my favorite things so I think it's going to be a great season.

Happy Fall!

Roadtrippin the Pacific Northwest

We road-tripped along the Pacific Coast this past week and it was so beautiful! I love the ocean and loved seeing different parts that I have never been to before. The girls collected sand dollars, shells, and lots and lots of sand.

Although I love where I live, traveling reminds me that beauty lies in everything and I love exploring new areas and showing different areas to the girls. We saw dolphins and a sea otter which was one of the highlights of the trip.

Good friends and beautiful places always makes my heart happy. I can't wait to get out on our next adventure.

Although we're definitely going to miss the ocean, back here our house is officially sold now which has me dreaming of kitchens and hardwood floors in the new one. I can't wait to start designing our new space!

Creative Outlets, Home Renovations, and Coffee Addictions

Hi Everyone,

My name is Charise. I'm a wife, mother, student, employee, DIYer, and coffee connoisseur.

The reason you are reading this is because I need a creative outlet. A little place in this Big Data world that is all my own where I can share my ideas, successes, failures, and hilarious stories pertaining to having children.

Religiously I have followed a number of blogs throughout the past few years. They have inspired me to be more creative, to express my feelings, and to own the life you live in. I love the way you can almost feel as if you know someone just by their pictures and words, even if you've never met. I constantly tell people, "one of my friends did this..." I honestly feel as though we are friends, and it also sounds better than saying, "so I stalk this girl's blog... and she has great ideas".

So we'll go with friends.

My husband and I are also in the process of buying a new house. It is a gorgeous mid-century modern and from the moment I stepped in the door, knew that it has something special about it. This blog is going to detail us renovating this beauty along with our already crazy lives.

So pop in once in a while and see what is in store.
